Common questions
Do I need to pay per user or per device?+
No. Solo is one Editor install. Site is unlimited Editor and Viewer installs at one physical location. No per-seat, no per-device fees.
What happens after the trial at launch?+
When the planned 30-day trial ends without a license, the app continues to work in read-only mode. You can view and export existing instructions but cannot create new ones. Your data is never deleted.
Can I switch between subscription and perpetual?+
Yes. Contact us and we'll apply your subscription payments as credit toward a perpetual license.
Do you handle VAT?+
Yes. Payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. VAT is calculated and collected automatically based on your location.
What's included in maintenance (perpetual)?+
All software updates and new features for the duration of your maintenance agreement, plus email support. Without maintenance, you keep your purchased version forever but don't receive updates.
Is my data stored in the cloud?+
No. StepLinq requires no internet or cloud. Solo runs fully offline on one Windows PC. Site uses your local network/shared folder for Editor + Viewer sync. Your data stays on your machine or your local network share. Nothing is sent to any server, ever.
How does the Viewer work?+
StepLinq Viewer is a separate, free Windows app that connects to the same network share. It shows only approved instructions in read-only mode. Install it on as many Windows workstations as you need. No extra cost on Site License.
Will there be a trial at launch?+
Yes — a 30-day trial with all Site features is planned for launch. No credit card required. Once StepLinq launches in Q3 2026, download and install — early-access waitlist members get notified first.
